The office of California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday declined Florida’s offer to send the state guard to Los Angeles, accusing Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of trying to “inflame an already chaotic situation,” The Hill reported.

It’s unclear when DeSantis made the offer, but Newsom’s office confirmed it, saying the “guard were not needed in the first place,” according to the report.

“We declined Governor DeSantis’ attempt to inflame an already chaotic situation made worse by his party’s leader,” referring to President Donald Trump, The Hill reported.
